Brandt Moser was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on October 18, 1960. He was raised in Plantation, FL, where he played soccer at South Plantation High School, graduating in 1979. His love of soccer led him to Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA, where he played for two years and was named captain in his sophomore year. From there he attended Flagler College as one of the school’s first recruits to their restarted soccer program in 1981.
After graduating from Flagler College in 1983, with a degree in Psychology, he returned to South Florida to begin working for Shell Oil Company. His passion for the sport of soccer remained as he continued to play in local men’s leagues, but his desire was to coach the sport. Brandt’s thirty-five plus year coaching career in South Florida began when he was hired at American Heritage School in 1985 to start the girls’ soccer program. Over his tenure at American Heritage, he also coached boys’ soccer and girls’ volleyball before taking on the role of Director of Golf for the school.
As the head coach of these programs, his teams had a total of 28 District, 4 Sectional, 24 Regional, 13 State Runner-up, and 5 State Championships. As the Director of Golf, his teams combined for a total of 12 state team titles and 13 individual state champions. The boys’ golf team had a record seven individual champions that were also named Florida Dairy Farmers Golfer of the Year. The boys’ golf team has also been one of the top academic teams in the state, placing in the top twenty-five 9 out of the last 10 years and number one in 2A in 2016-2017. The boys’ golf program has won over 50 High School Golf Invitational tournaments.
Coach Moser has received many honors over the years. He was named NHSACA National Boys Golf Coach of the Year in 2017, Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year (5) times, NFHS Coach of the Year, and chosen as the Sun Sentinel/Miami Herald Coach of the Year over (20) times. In addition, Coach Moser served multiple terms on the rules advisory committee for both boys’ and girls’ soccer and golf.
The AHS golf program has had over 40 golfers go on to play college golf. Former AHS Boys’ Golf Team standout T.J. Vogel won the US Public Links Amateur in 2012, Ty Strafaci won the US Amateur in 2020 and Leo Herrera won the US Amateur Four Ball Championship in 2021.
