GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In partnership with
Lee County Sports Development, the 2020 Florida High School Girls Volleyball State Championships are set to take place this weekend at
Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.
Due to travel and weather concerns leading up to the event, Friday's originally scheduled matches have been moved to Sunday, November 15th, along with a newly adjusted starting time. All matches originally scheduled for Saturday, November 14th will continue as planned.
For the third year in a row, the state's strongest girls volleyball teams and their fans will travel to the campus of Florida Southwestern College (FSW). This two-day championship event consists of title games in seven classifications (1A-7A). Of the weekend's competing teams, six are making a return appearance to Fort Myers, with four back to defend their 2019 titles. The Class 1A matchup between Sneads and Newberry will also be a rematch of last year's thriller, which saw Sneads claim a record tieing seventh consecutive state championship. Sneads will be looking to break that state record this year when they compete on Sunday at 4 p.m.
