GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The upcoming 2021 Florida High School Boys Weightlifting State Championships will take place this weekend at multiple locations, just like the girl’s event did back in February. Classes 1A & 2A will compete at
Port St. Joe High School on Friday & Saturday, while Class 3A will compete at
St. Cloud High School on Saturday. This will be the second spring sport to return with a championship event since the pandemic began.
With the addition of a third
classification, there will be at least one new team champion crowned in 2021. Due to this change, the 2019
defending team champions of Navarre and Citrus (Inverness), will each move up a classification and will now be competing in Classes 3A and 2A respectively. Of these two, Navarre will be making the strongest bid to repeat as they have qualified 10 lifters for the event in St. Cloud.
To assist with safety and capacity restrictions within both venues, all classifications will compete in a two-session per day format, with the lighter lifting divisions competing in the first session each day. An awards presentation for competing divisions will follow at the conclusion of each session. Tickets are currently on sale and available through
GoFan for an advanced purchase rate of $9.00 per session, and a day of price of $12.00.

COVID-19 Facility Considerations:
•
Due to COVID-19, face coverings will be required for non-active participants and all spectators while inside the venue(s). All spectators will be required to physically distance and the venue will be cleared in between sessions. Due to capacity restrictions, these event(s) may sell out, so advanced ticket purchases are strongly recommended. No onsite ticket sales will be taking place at St. Cloud High School.
