GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For over three decades now, the strongest and best high school basketball teams across the state of Florida and their accompanying fans have descended on the City of Lakeland and Jenkins Arena at the
RP Funding Center. The familiar site will once again play host to the 2025 Florida High School Basketball State Championships. Just like in 2024, both the girls and boys qualifying teams will compete in the state championship event together over the next two weeks.
Built within a final four style format within each classification, this five-day, first week of the championship event will consist of both semifinal and championship title games over four classifications (1A-3A & Class Rural). To qualify for their respective state championship games, teams will compete in a semifinal matchup earlier in the week.
Of this first week's competing teams only, there are several returning champions and storylines. Due to classification realignment, and with the addition of the Rural Class beginning in the 2024-25 school year, only one returning champion from 2024 will be seeking a repeat performance within their same class designation.
On the boys' side, both Sagemont (Weston), formerly of Class 2A and Riviera Prep (Miami) formerly of Class 3A, will be seeking a sustained winning streak at the 2025 championship event. In Class 1A, the Lions of Sagemont seek their third straight and fourth overall title in school history, while in Class 2A, the Bulldogs of Riviera Prep also seek their third straight but third overall championship in school history.
On the girls’ side, both returning champions in the first week will be competing in same classification this year. Perennial power Miami Country Day, formerly of Class 3A but now is competing in Class 2A due to realignment, will be seeking their third straight and tenth overall title. The Spartans will face off against last year’s Class 2A champion, the Sentinels of Evangelical Christian (Fort Myers). The Sentinels will be seeking their second overall title in school history as they return to Lakeland.
Tickets are currently on sale and available through the
RP Funding Center Box Office for an advanced purchase rate of $12.00 per day, and a day of price of $15.00, plus applicable service fees. For a complete event schedule, state series brackets, as well as additional event information, please see below or visit the
