GAINESVILLE, Fla- The Florida High School Athletic Association’s
Board of Directors held their second scheduled meeting of the 2026-27 school year on Monday, November 2, 2026, in Gainesville.
During the meeting, the Board reviewed the financial statements of FHSAA, Inc. and FHSAA Land Corporation, Inc. for the period ending September 30, 2026. After one quarter of financial activity in the 2026-27 fiscal year, the Association’s operations continue to progress in a normal and customary manner, and FHSAA remains financially stable and well-positioned to meet its obligations and strategic objectives.
The Board was also presented with the 2025-26 FHSAA Annual Financial Report showing a net profit on June 30, 2026, of $219,250. This is a milestone for the Association and reflects core strategies in the Marketing Program, Officials Program, and Championship Events. Fortunately, the FHSAA was able to leverage strong playoff revenues to reinvest directly in member schools through support initiatives above and beyond expectations. Of the 32 FHSAA playoff events, member schools retained profits from 24 events, while eight events were reported to FHSAA. Those eight events generated $4.05 million in ticket revenue, resulting in $1.87 million in net proceeds. Of that amount, $1.11 million was distributed directly to member schools, while FHSAA received $766,000. The Association further returned 42% of its playoff proceeds ($323,009) through supplemental team payouts and loss reimbursements, resulting in member schools receiving a total of $1.43 million, or 77% of all net playoff proceeds. Overall, the report demonstrates that FHSAA remains in a strong financial position, with sufficient reserves and current assets to sustain operations while continuing to invest in member schools and championship programs.
The Governance Committee was presented with detailed information about the apportionment of administrative section boundaries. Under Bylaw 3.11.1, the Board is responsible for dividing member schools into four contiguous sections along county lines, ensuring an equal or near-equal number of member schools to ensure equitable representation on the Association’s Board of Directors, Representative Assembly, Sectional Appeals Committees, and other governance committees.
During the Report of the Operations Committee, the Board of Directors were presented with a Discussion Item involving FHSAA Policy 3.3 and the Process to Recognize Pickleball. Information was provided to the Board based on data collected from member schools through letters of petition, as required in Policy 3.3.2.
The FHSAA Board of Directors is scheduled to convene for their third regularly scheduled meeting of the 2026-27 school year on February 21-22, 2027, in Gainesville, at the FHSAA office.
