FHSAA Board of Directors Recap of February Meeting

GAINESVILLE, Fla- The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Board of Directors held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday February 22-23, 2026 in Gainesville.

Two Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members Monica Heeg (Lemon Bay) and Ben Diblasi (Redeemer Christian), presented to the Board on the topic of coaches’ requirements. It’s one of the three initiatives the SAAC has been working on as a group this school year.

During the report of the Operations Committee, the Board of Directors voted to amend policies 12.4 and 12.5 which proposed six classifications in addition to a Rural classification in the sports of baseball, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ and boys’ soccer, softball, and girls’ volleyball. The Board unanimously voted to deny FHSAA Policy 12.4, which would’ve separated combination schools and senior high schools when classifying individual sports (Cross Country Advisory Committee). They voted to approve FHSAA Administrative Procedure 3.3.1.1.1.1 which proposed utilizing Max Preps rankings to rank and seed for football championships. The Board also voted to approve Playfly Paragon Sports Marketing agreements for the 2026 Basketball Nationals.

The Board of Directors will convene again on April 19th and 20th, 2026. This meeting will be held at the FHSAA Office in Gainesville.
