GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In partnership with the University of North Florida (UNF) Athletics Department and Visit Jacksonville, Hodges Stadium will once again host the Florida High School Track & Field State Championships. The 2021 event will make a return to the UNF campus, since the city of Gainesville could no longer host due to campus restrictions in place at the University of Florida. This return to Jacksonville should be familiar for all involved, as the 2018 & 2019 state championships were last held at Hodges Stadium. The 2020 championships were cancelled due to the pandemic. 

“We would like to thank the City of Jacksonville and the University of North Florida for their commitment to providing a first-class championship experience for our student-athletes, coaches and spectators,” said George Tomyn, FHSAA Executive Director. “As we continue our comeback of high school sports this year, a return to Hodges Stadium for this year’s state championship event will provide nearly all spectators who wish to attend, the opportunity to do so.”

Scheduled for Friday, May 7^th and Saturday, May 8^th, competition will be held by classification in a daily multi-session format. All teams and individuals will qualify via their respective regional meets being held the week prior.  Due to attendance restrictions in place, competition for each class will be completed on a single day. Additionally, face coverings, physical distancing guidelines and other COVID-19 precautions will also be in place for those attending.

Tickets for the 2021 Florida High School Track & Field State Championships will be available through the UNF ticket office. Tickets will cost $12 in advance and $15 the day of, with a $3 advanced parking fee already included in each cost of admission.
