2022 Boys Basketball State Championships: Know Before You Go

To be held at RP Funding Center in Lakeland

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the 27th consecutive season, the RP Funding Center and Jenkins Arena will play host to the Florida High School Boys Basketball State Championships. 2022 marks the 41st time the City of Lakeland will host the Boys Championships overall.

Built within a final four style format, this four-day championship event will consist of both semifinal and championship title games over seven classifications (1A-7A). To qualify for their respective state championship games on Friday and Saturday, teams will compete in semifinal matchups earlier in the week.

Of the weekend's competing teams, three are making return appearances to the Lakeland hardwood to defend their 2021 championships. Dr. Phillips (Orlando) and Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale) will by vying for repeat performances, while Orlando Christian Prep is seeking their third straight and fifth overall championship in the last six years.  An additional item of note includes the return of Malone, who currently stands second overall in the state record book with 14 championships. They will be seeking their 15th overall title and first since 2012.

  • Class 3A State Championship, 4:30 p.m.
    • Defending champion: Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale)
  • Class 1A State Championship, 7 p.m.
    • Defending champion: Wildwood
Saturday, March 5
  • Class 2A State Championship, 10 a.m.
    • Defending champion: Orlando Christian Prep
  • Class 4A State Championship, 12:30 p.m.
    • Defending champion: Pine Crest (Fort Lauderdale)
  • Class 5A State Championship, 3 p.m.
    • Defending champion: Pembroke Pines Charter
  • Class 6A State Championship, 5:30 p.m.
    • Defending champion: Bartow
  • Class 7A State Championships, 8 p.m.
    • Defending champion: Dr. Phillips (Orlando)
