GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Partnering with Kissimmee Sports for the eighth consecutive year, the 2022 Florida High School Individual Bracketed Tournament (IBT) Wrestling State Championships are slated to take place this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (March 3
rd-5
th) at Kissimmee’s
Osceola Heritage Park’s - Silver Spurs Arena. After the FHSAA
Board of Directors approved the
addition of a girl’s state series tournament earlier this year, the 2022 IBT Wrestling State Championships will go down in history as the first event to include both boys’ and girls’ competition.
Each individual wrestler descends on Kissimmee after becoming eligible to compete in their respective weight class, through the qualification process in both the District and Regional rounds that have taken place over the last few weeks. In addition to crowning individual state champions for each classification in each weight class, overall team championships will be awarded as well.
Structured as a
three-day event, action will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, 9:15 a.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The individual finals, which are the culmination of the weekend event, are tentatively scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
