2022 Boys USA Weightlifting Florida High School State Championships: Know Before You Go

To be held at Port St. Joe High School in Gulf County

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In partnership with Gulf District Schools, this week’s Boys USA Weightlifting Florida High School State Championships will take place at Port St. Joe High School in Gulf County. Class 3A will compete on Thursday, April 21st, Class 2A on Friday, April 22nd, and Class 1A will conclude the week’s competition on Saturday, April 23rd. The panhandle destination should be familiar to many member schools, as Port St. Joe did host two classes of this state championship in 2021.
 
While the inaugural Snatch competition will take place early in each session, the bench and clean & jerk competition will still take place in its traditional format. Of the returning teams, Charlotte (Punta Gorda) in Class 2A and Keystone Heights in Class 1A are most primed and ready to repeat as state champions in the traditional format, with fourteen and fifteen competitors respectively qualifying for this year’s event. Spruce Creek (Port Orange), which has ten qualifying lifters in Class 3A will be seeking their state record leading 28th overall championship, and first title since 2018.
 
Each classification will compete in a two-session per day format, with the lighter lifting divisions competing in the first session of each day. An awards presentation for competing divisions will follow at the conclusion of each session. Tickets are currently on sale and available through GoFan for an advanced purchase rate of $9.00 per session, and a day of price of $12.00.
