GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In partnership with
Collier County Public Schools, the 2022 Florida High School Lacrosse State Championships will take place this week, Thursday through Saturday, at
Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples. This will mark the first time the Southwest Florida venue will play host to a State Championship. Built within a final four style format, this three-day championship lacrosse event will consist of both semifinal and state championship title games in both genders. Thursday will be all boy’s semifinal games, while Friday the girls will take to the field in their semifinal matchups in an attempt to qualify for their respective championship games. All games will take place on the Stadium Field.

Of note for the weekend’s competing teams, both American Heritage (Delray Beach) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) girls are returning to defend their titles from 2021. While American Heritage in Class 1A has the inside track as the #1 seed in their bracket with the new reseeding at the final four, St. Thomas Aquinas in Class 2A will have to contend with perennial powers Vero Beach and Bartram Trail (St. Johns) if it wants to repeat on last year’s performance. On the boy’s side, St. Andrews (Boca Raton) returns to the championship event in hopes of securing its sixth overall championship by going back-to-back, while Class 2A will have a new champion in 2022. St. Thomas Aquinas boys though have secured the #1 seed in Class 2A and will be seeking their third overall championship in school history.
