FHSAA Announces 2023 Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) announced on Wednesday the 29th Annual Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team, a recognition program that honors 24 graduating student-athletes who excel in both athletics and academics. With this being one of the most important special recognition programs the FHSAA sponsors, 12 girls and 12 boys from all over the state will be awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarships.
 
“The hardworking men and women of Florida’s dairy industry are honored to recognize the significant accomplishments of these amazing student-athletes,” says Florida Dairy Farmers CEO, Michele Cooper. “We’re excited to support a program that has a great tradition of encouraging excellence on the field and in the classroom and we’re proud to support students that have the special mix of work ethic and determination required to succeed at both.”
 
To be eligible for this award, students must be a graduating senior with a minimum 3.5 unweighted grade point average and earned a minimum of two varsity letters in at least two different sports during their junior and senior year. The 2023 Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team selection committee evaluated scholarship nominees based on their athletic participation, academic record, extracurricular activities, community service and essay.

Each Florida Dairy Famers Academic All-State Team member will be recognized at a banquet on Monday, June 5 where they will receive a $1,700 scholarship and a commemorative medallion. Out of the 24 All-State Team members, one male and one female will be named the Ronald N. Davis Scholar-Athletes of the Year, the FHSAA’s most prestigious honor bestowed on any active student-athlete. The winners of this award will earn a commemorative trophy and an additional $4,600 in scholarship funds – $6,300 in total.

The members of the 2023 Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team are:

Kathryn Adams, Episcopal (Jacksonville) – Kathryn Adams owns a 4.0 GPA and is at the top of her class.  She is a National Merit Semifinalist, Advanced Placement Scholar and received two Silver Keys at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Throughout her high school career, she has participated in four varsity sports including volleyball, lacrosse, basketball, and beach volleyball. Adams has served as class president and Eagle Ambassador for the past three years. She has accumulated over 200 service hours through Dance Marathon and the North Florida School of Special Education Equestrian Therapy Program. Adams is the daughter of John and Ashley Adams and plans to study English or creative writing this fall.

Jayson Alford, Pace – Jayson Alford owns a 4.0 GPA and received the Pensacola Sports All-Star Academic award. He earned three varsity letters in both football and weightlifting, as well as two varsity letters in track & field. Alford was named to the First Team All-Area for weightlifting and First Team All-District for football. All four years of high school Alford was a member of Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact Club, and served as the National Honor Society’s historian the past two years. He has over 200 community service hours while also working as a landscaper for the last six years. He is the son of Jon and Emily Alford and will be attending Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in the fall to study engineering.
 
Jack Bancroft, Out of Door (Sarasota) – Jack Bancroft owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks fifth in his senior class of 84 students.  The Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction is a member of Cum Laude Society and received a perfect score on the ACT.  Bancroft received four varsity letters in football and three varsity letters in soccer and lacrosse.  He is a member of the Florida Orchestra Association All-State Honors Orchestra as a bassist while also serving as club president for the past three years. He has worked for over 450 service hours by volunteering at a local hospital and through his work with tutoring, youth soccer, and music. He is the son of Josiah and Laura Bancroft. He plans to attend the University of South Florida in Tampa to study biology.
 
Kenneth Barrett, Miami Country Day – Kenneth Barrett owns a 4.0 GPA, is a National Merit Semifinalist and National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar. He earned varsity letters in water polo and swimming and diving all four years of high school. He was a member of the Florida High School Water Polo District Championship team in 2022 and was named to the Miami Herald’s Third-Team All-County Water Polo Team. Barrett served as Student Body President his senior year while also participating in Contemporary Music Ensemble and Concert Jazz Band as a pianist. Through his work with Boy Scouts of America where he serves as the Senior Patrol Leader, TASSEL Club, and his church, he has earned 475 hours of community service. Barrett is the son of Kenneth and Valerie Barrett and plans to study neuroscience in the fall. 
 
Fisher Coleman-Sayer, Marathon – Fisher Coleman-Sayer owns a 3.84 GPA and ranks third in his senior class of 83 students. He earned three varsity letters in basketball and four varsity letters in baseball and golf. Coleman-Sayer was a member of Student Government all four years of high school serving as president his senior year. Additionally, he has been a member of concert band for the past four years, earning an Excellent rating at Solo and Ensemble his junior and senior year. He has over 290 service hours through his work with 7 Mile Bridge Run, Champions of Change, and Interact Club. He is the son of Meagan Sayer and Mary Coleman. He will be attending Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland in the fall to study economics.
 
Ingrid Corpus, Benjamin (West Palm Beach) – Ingrid Corpus owns a 4.0 GPA, is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and National Merit Semifinalist. During her high school athletics career, she has earned varsity letters in basketball, cross country, track & field, and volleyball. Corpus was named to the Sun Sentinel Palm Beach Second Team for Cross Country her senior year and received a Sun Sentinel Palm Beach Honorable Mention for Track and Field her junior year.  Her extracurriculars include president of Spanish Club, the Florida State Spanish Conference, Yale Model United Nations, and the president of Students with the Ability to Tutor Club. She has accumulated over 150 community service hours by volunteering at a local hospital, road races, and Hoop ‘Til it Hurts Foundation. She is the daughter of Don Corpus and Dana Holl and plans to study international relations in the fall.

Hyatt Criser, Plant (Tampa) – Hyatt Criser owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks in the top of his class. The Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction is a member of the National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Honor Society and Order of the Gold and Black. Criser earned varsity letters in lacrosse and swimming and diving all four years of high school. He is a three-time regional champion for lacrosse and a two-time American Division Western Conference Champion for swimming.  Criser serves as senior class president, Editor-in-Chief of his school newspaper, and co-president of his school’s student section, Gold Rush. He has earned over 430 hours of community service through his work with Teens in Action, Cornerstone, and Camp Terrapin. He is the son of Mark and Heather Criser and plans to study neuroscience in the fall at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Caroline or University of Texas in Austin, Texas.
 
Austin Edwards, Crystal River – Austin Edwards owns a 3.98 GPA and ranks second out of 259 students in his senior class.  He is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, Eagle Scout, and Sunshine State Scholar nominee. Edwards received varsity letters in soccer and tennis all four years of high school. He received an honorable mention from the All-Gulf Coast 8 Conference for soccer twice during his high school career. All four years of high school, Edwards was a member of Key Club, Link Crew, Interact Club, and National Honor Society. Additionally, he earned over 300 community service hours from the Boy Scouts and West Citrus Soccer Club. He is the son of Kent and Julie Edwards. In the fall, Edwards will be attending the University of Florida in Gainesville to study mechanical engineering.
 
Garrett Eisenhuth, Seacrest Country Day (Naples) – Garrett Eisenhuth owns a 3.8 GPA and is in the top of his senior class. He played varsity baseball and soccer for four years and golf in his senior year. He serves as Student Body Treasurer and president of Chess Club, Entrepreneurship Club and National Honor Society. Eisenhuth has earned over 330 community service hours through his work with Key Club, Naples Players, and summer baseball camps. He is also an official for US Soccer. He is the son of Mark and Susan Eisenhuth and plans to study business in the fall. 
 
Presley Engelauf, Lemon Bay (Englewood) – Presley Engelauf owns a 3.79 GPA and ranks at the top of her senior class. She is a five-sport athlete earning a total of 16 varsity letters throughout her high school career in volleyball, weightlifting, track and field, swimming and diving and beach volleyball.  Engelauf was named Sun Preps Track and Field Athlete of the Year and holds the school record in the clean and jerk. She is president of Manta Athletic Leadership Academy, a member of National Honor Society, and president of the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. She has earned over 350 service hours by working with youth volleyball, YMCA, and Lady Manta Sports Camp. She is the daughter of Shane and Jennifer Engelauf and will be attending the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, Alaska to study biology.

Eric Feichthaler Jr., Oasis (Cape Coral) – Eric Feichthaler Jr. owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks third in his senior class of 173 students.  The National Merit Finalist received his Cambridge AICE diploma with Distinction his junior year and is a Coca-Cola Scholars Program Semifinalist. All four years of high school he earned varsity letters in golf and tennis. In 2021, Feitchthaler won the USA Today Southwest Florida High School Sports “I AM SPORT” award and was named to the News-Press All-Area Team for tennis. He is a four-year officer of Key Club, president of National Honor Society, and author of a Junior Ranger’s Guide to US National Parks. Feitchthaler earned 650 community services through his work with Cape Coral Kiwanis Thrift Store, Hurricane Ian clean up, and Cape Coral Caring Center Mobile Food Pantry. He is the son of Eric and Mary Feichthaler and will be attending Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in the fall to study environmental biology.
 
Leah Finkelman, North Broward Prep (Coconut Creek) – Leah Finkelman owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks fifth in her senior class of 250 students. She is a National Merit Commended Scholar, Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor and has been named International Baccalaureate Student of the Year in economics and Spanish.  Finkelman earned four varsity letters in soccer and two varsity letters in track and field. Finkelman was named to the Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel All-County Girls Soccer Team for the past three years. She also holds seven school records in soccer. Off the field, she has served as her class vice president, founded the “Level the Field” club, and is a member of five honor societies (math, English, Spanish, science, and social studies). She has accumulated over 400 community service hours by working with Parkland Youth Recreational Soccer, Goal-den Girls, and Coconut Creek Youth Soccer Camp. She is the daughter of Robert and Meryl Finkelman and will attend the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to study neuroscience.

Jace Grant, Aucilla Christian (Monticello) – Jace Grant owns a 4.0 GPA and was selected to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association First-Team All-Academic and ABC 27 Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Grant earned 14 varsity letters throughout his high school career in football, baseball, weightlifting and basketball. This year, he was named All-Big Bend Preps Athlete of the Week and Florida Athletic Coaches Association District Football Player of the Year. All four years of high school, Grant was a member of Beta Club and Aucilla Christian Academy Ambassadors. He has over 100 community service hours from FCA mission trips and Aucilla Christian Academy Ambassadors. He is the son of Carter and Christy Grant and plans to study engineering or business in the fall.
 
Megan Griggs, Forest (Ocala) – Megan Griggs owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks first in a senior class of 462 students. She has earned nine varsity letters throughout her high school career in golf, lacrosse, weightlifting, and track and field. In 2020, Griggs was the Marion County Golfer of the Year. Beyond sports, she currently serves as Student Body Historian and National Honor Society Vice President of Service. She has accumulated over 450 service hours by working with Church of Springs and Young Life. She is the daughter of Mike and Kristie Griggs. This fall, she will be attending Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina to study sports medicine.

Eve Hage, Bishop Moore (Orlando) – Eve Hage owns a 4.0 GPA and is a National Merit Commended Scholar and Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor. She has lettered in soccer, cross country and track and field throughout her high school career and was a member of the 4A Florida High School Soccer State Championship team in 2022. All four years of high school, Hage was a member of Hornet House of Representatives and Leadership Team. She has held leadership roles with Athletic Honor Society, Chemistry Club and Science National Honor Society.  Hage has acquired over 250 service hours through her work with Orlando Science Center, Arnold Palmer Medical Center, and Track Shack. She is the daughter of Thomas and Leslie Hage and plans to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville and study pre-medicine.

Alexa Hanssen, Jupiter – Alexa Hanssen owns a 3.96 GPA and ranks at the top of her class.  The Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction has earned varsity letters in cross country, swimming and diving and track and field all four years of high school.  She also lettered in water polo her sophomore and junior year. In 2020, Hanssen was named an All-American in track and field and selected to the Sun Sentinel All-Team Cross Country and Palm Beach Post All-County Cross Country Team. Outside of athletics, she is a four-year member of JROTC, National Honor Society, One Tribe, and Child Hunger Club. She has obtained over 320 service hours through her work with Jupiter Dragon Masters Swim Team, Veterans Organization, and Friends of Jupiter Beach. She is the daughter of Erik and Jenna Hanssen and will attend the University of Florida in Gainesville to study history in the fall.

Anika Kinnear, Lake Mary – Anika Kinnear owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks at the top of her class. She earned varsity letters in basketball and tennis throughout her high school career.  Outside of sports, she is a four-year member of the marching band, concert band, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and 4-H. Kinnear is a two-time All-County Band member and received a superior rating at Solo and Ensemble. Kinnear has acquired over 300 community service hours by working with Global Partners in Help, Vacation Bible School, and Love for our Elders. She is the daughter of Kent and Happy Kinnear and plans to study pre-medicine in the fall.

Matthew Lisman, Bishop Moore (Orlando) – Matthew Lisman owns a 3.98 GPA and is in the top of his senior class. Lisman has earned varsity letters in cross country and soccer throughout his high school career. He was a member of the Florida High School Soccer State Runner-up team in 2022.  Lisman is the president of the Mu Alpha Theta, the treasurer of Bishop Moore’s Athletic Honor Society, and a member of the seven honor societies. He has 190 community service hours through his work with Coalition for the Homeless, Freekick Orlando, and Catholic Charities of Central Florida. He is the son of Herman and Clara Lisman and plans to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville to study business and finance.
 
Abigail Lofstead, Palm Beach Central (Wellington) – Abigail Lofstead owns a 4.0 GPA, received her Cambridge AICE Diploma, and ranks fifth in her senior class of 675 students. She is a four-sport varsity athlete participating in lacrosse, soccer, cross country, and golf throughout high school. Outside of sports, she served as her school’s vice president and head of community service. She was also an AICE program committee leader, founded the Women in Stem club, and was the Environmental Honor Society president. She accrued more than 260 service hours through her work with UNICEF, Key Club and Dance Marathon. She is the daughter of Geoff and Tricia Lofstead and plans to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville in the fall to study biology.

Jackson Mallick, Rocky Bayou Christian (Niceville) – Jackson Mallick owns a 3.97 GPA, ranks third in his senior class of 55 students and was the 2021-2022 Male Scholar-Athlete at his school. Mallick earned varsity letters all four years of high school in football and soccer. His senior year, Mallick served as president of Student Government Association and Junior Classical League. He was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen award and he works as a referee for the US Soccer Federation. He is the son of Richard and Patricia Mallick and plans to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville in the fall to study engineering.
 
David Om, Rocky Bayou Christian (Niceville) – David Om owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks first in his senior class of 55 students. He earned 11 varsity letters throughout his high school career in football, soccer, and track and field. Om was a member of the 2022 Florida High School Soccer District championship team. His senior year he was appointed Academic Prefect, served as Mu Alpha Theta vice president and National Honor Society president.  Om was named first chair clarinet for the past three years in symphonic band.  He has acquired over 120 hours of service through his work with Rocky Bayou Christian School and Full Gospel Hope Church. He is the son of Jae Yong Om and Ji Young Baek and plans to study engineering at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
 
Elizabeth Pruitt, Rocky Bayou Christian (Niceville) – Elizabeth Pruitt owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks second in her senior class of 55 students. The 2022 Scholastic Athlete of the Year earned varsity letters in soccer, track and field, volleyball, and softball.  She was a member of the district championship team in both volleyball and soccer.  Outside of sports, Pruitt is a four-year member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Beta Club Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Spanish Club. She has acquired over 240 community service hours and was awarded the Pensacola Sports community service award. She is the daughter of John and Martha Pruitt and plans to study pre-medicine at Florida State University in Tallahassee this fall.

Ava Ramos, Taylor (Pierson) – Ava Ramos owns a 4.0 GPA and ranks third in her senior class of 170 students.  Ramos earned varsity letters in cross country, volleyball, basketball, weightlifting and softball in all four years of high school. She was a member of the Florida High School Girls Volleyball State Runner-up team in 2021 and is a two-time state qualifier for girls weightlifting.  Her senior year, Ramos served as National Honor Society president and is a member of Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has accumulated over 175 service hours through her work with Lion Club of Pierson, Rotary Toy Drive and Vacation Bible School. She is the daughter of Tony and Tanya Ramos and will continue her education at St. Johns State College in pursuing a career in communication and broadcasting.

Bella Rosa, St. Stephens (Bradenton) – Bella Rosa owns a 3.86 GPA, is an Advanced Placement National Scholar and a member of the National Hispanic Recognition program. Rosa earned varsity letters in golf and lacrosse all four years of high school. She was named an All-Academic All-American in the sport of lacrosse. In her senior year, she served as treasurer of her senior class and Spirit Club president. She has accrued over 200 community service hours through volunteering with Younglife, youth lacrosse, and tutoring. She is the daughter of Miguel and Tracey Rosa and plans to study engineering in the fall.

FDF’s sponsorship of the Academic All-State Team complements the organization’s long history of supporting Florida’s student-athletes.

About the FHSAA
The Florida High School Athletic Association supervises and regulates interscholastic athletic programs for high school students at member public, private and charter schools. The organization also recognizes and honors academic achievement among student-athletes at over 800 middle, junior and senior high schools statewide. Headquartered in Gainesville, it is the official governing body for interscholastic athletics in Florida.
