GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In partnership with
Polk County Public Schools and
Polk County Sports Marketing, the Florida High School Boys Volleyball State Championships are set to take place this weekend at the
Winter Haven Health Center on the campus of
Polk State College in Winter Haven. This will be the first time that Polk State College will host the boys championship event, as they did host the 2022 Girls Volleyball State Championships last November. This two-day, eight-team championship event will consist of four quarterfinal matches on Friday, followed by both the semifinal and championship matches on Saturday.
Of the weekend’s competing teams, only two of the eight teams present are making a repeat appearance in the championship event from 2022. Winter Park headlines the field as they are back to defend their 2022 state championship, after knocking off the then reigning state champion Freedom (Orlando). Also returning to the event is Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale), who will be seeking their third overall title, having last claimed a championship in 2018. While not in the final eight a year ago, Southwest Miami is also in the field for 2023 seeking their third overall title. The remaining teams consist of Celebration, Cypress Bay (Weston), Hialeah Gardens, King’s Academy (West Palm Beach), and Lake Howell (Winter Park), with each competing for their first ever Florida High School Boys’ Volleyball State Championship.
Tickets are currently on sale
via GoFan, with no onsite ticket sales taking place. Tickets are selling at an advanced purchase rate of $12.00, and a day of price of $15.00. There will be no charge for parking onsite, as the $3.00 cost is already included in each ticket of admission.
