GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The FHSAA held a press conference on Monday, October 14
th to discuss plans for adjustments to the fall sports schedule due to recent hurricane impacts across the state.
The FHSAA will provide flexibility with adjustments to girls volleyball district playing dates. The girls volleyball district tournament will be extended through Saturday, October 19
th. The dates for the state series may be adjusted, if necessary.
The Executive Director noted he will be granting a blanket minimum contest waiver for all student athletes that compete in individual sports (bowling, cross country, golf, and swimming and diving).
As previously announced, the Florida High School Rural Classification Football State Championships will be played on Friday December 6
th at the Range at H.G. Morse Stadium in Middleton, Florida. The State Championships for classes 1A-7A will take place December 11-14 at South Dade Kia Field at
Pitbull Stadium in Miami, Florida.
Lastly, it was announced that the last regular season contest in football for all classes Rural-7A has been extended to Thursday, November 7
th (District contests may also be played through November 7
th). This will allow for contest results to be confirmed, and playoff brackets to be released on Saturday, November 9
th. The 2024 FHSAA football regional tournament contests for Rural -7A will be on November 15
th, November 22
nd and November 29
th with the Rural Football State Semifinals taking place on November 29
th. The Football State Semifinals for 1A-7A will be on Friday, December 6
th.
