TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) made its way to the state capitol last week, as Executive Director Craig Damon, and two student representatives spoke before the Florida Senate Committee on Education Pre-K-12.
The group’s presentation focused on the importance of high school athletics and the FHSAA’s ongoing commitment to supporting student-athletes across the state.
Student representatives also shared their experiences. They talked about the lessons learned through sports and the challenges of balancing academics and athletics.
Both students emphasized how valuable it is for young athletes to have their voices heard when decisions are made that impact high school sports statewide.
“Anything that we can do to drive change through our legislative partners, the Senate, House, it would be very effective,” said FHSAA Community Program Sub-Committee member Taylor White.
The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen connections with state leaders and highlight the FHSAA’s role in promoting education, leadership, and character through athletics.
