2022 Swimming & Diving State Championships: Know Before You Go

To be held at Sailfish Splash Waterpark and Aquatics Center in Stuart; Classes 1A and 2A to compete this weekend

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2022 Florida High School Swimming & Diving State Championships presented by Pinch-a-Penny concludes this weekend with classifications 1A & 2A. Just as it has been since 2013, the State Championships will be hosted by the Treasure Coast Sports Commission at Sailfish Splash Waterpark & Aquatics Center in Stuart. Classes 3A & 4A competed November 4th and 5th, while Class 1A will compete Friday, November 18th, and Class 2A will compete on Saturday, November 19th. The event was pushed back by a week due to the impact and concerns surrounding the recent storm.

Individuals and relay teams all become eligible to compete in their respective events at the State Championships after qualifying and advancing through both the District and Regional levels that have taken place over the last month. In Class 1A competition of note, Bolles (Jacksonville) once again ran away with both the boys and girls team titles in 2021 and will be a major threat to repeat again in 2022. On the boy’s side, the Bulldogs have a 34 year consecutive streak on the line dating back to 1988, a complement to their state leading 44 overall team championships. On the girl’s side, the lady Bulldogs have been similarly as dominant with an active streak of 31 consecutive titles dating back to 1991. The girls also have a state leading 35 overall state championships as well. With a strong contingent of athletes qualified for both Bolles squads again this year, they pose another competitive test to their opponents once again. In Class 2A , Bishop Kenny (Jacksonville) boys are the reigning state champions after claiming their second overall team title at the 2021 event, and will be seeking back to back championships for the first time in school history. On the girls side of Class 2A, Gulliver Prep (Pinecrest) returns multiple athletes seeking their seventh overall championship. The Lady Raiders will be hoping to start another consecutive streak of championships again, having most recently completed a streak of five straight titles between 2014-2018.

The championship event is setup so each classification will compete on their own day in a multi-session format. The morning session will consist of the preliminary qualifying events, with the Finals tentatively scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm each evening. Tickets are currently on sale and being sold per session through GoFan for an advanced purchase rate of $9.00, and a day of price of $12.00.
