GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2024 Florida High School Swimming & Diving State Championships conclude this weekend with classifications 1A & 2A. For the second year in a row, Ocala’s
Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center (FAST) will serve as the host location, with the event being made possible due to the ongoing partnership of the
Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau (OMCVB). Classifications 1A & 2A will compete this Friday, November 15
th, and Saturday, November 16
th , after Classes 3A & 4A got the 2024 event started last weekend.
Individuals and relay teams all became eligible to compete in their respective events at the State Championships after qualifying and advancing through both the District and Regional levels that have taken place over the past two weeks. In Class 1A competition, Bolles (Jacksonville) extended their state leading overall championships for both genders last year, and will be seeking repeat performances again this year. On the boy’s side, the Bulldogs have a 36 year consecutive streak on the line dating back to 1988, a complement to their state leading 46 overall team championships. On the girl’s side, the Bulldogs are just as dominant maintaining an active streak of 33 consecutive titles dating back to 1991, and a state leading 37 overall team championships. In Class 2A competition of note, Bishop Kenny (Jacksonville) boys are winners of three straight state champions after claiming their fourth overall team title at the 2023 event. On the girls side, Holy Names (Tampa) comes in winners of two straight team titles. They will be seeking both their third straight and third overall title in the event’s history.
The championship event is setup so each classification will compete on their own day in a multi-session format. The morning session will consist of the preliminary qualifying events, with the Finals tentatively scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm each evening. Tickets are currently on sale and being sold per session through
