2024 Swimming & Diving State Championships: Know Before You Go

To be held at FAST in Ocala; Classes 3A and 4A to compete this weekend

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2024 Florida High School Swimming & Diving State Championships will get underway this weekend with classifications 3A & 4A. For the second year in a row, Ocala’s Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center (FAST) will serve as the host location, with the event being made possible due to the ongoing partnership of the Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau (OMCVB). Class 3A will kick this year’s event off on Friday, November 8th, and Class 4A will compete on Saturday, November 9th. Classifications 1A & 2A will compete on Friday, November 15th, and Saturday, November 16th.

Individuals and relay teams all became eligible to compete in their respective events at the State Championships after qualifying and advancing through both the District and Regional levels that have taken place over the past two weeks. In Class 3A competition, which will take to the pool deck on Friday, St. Johns County has seen recent success in its boys program from Nease (Ponte Vedra) and girls program from Ponte Vedra. The Nease Panthers on the boys side have put together back to back championship teams and will be seeking another impressive performance from their large amount of qualified athletes. On the girls side, the Sharks of Ponte Vedra will be seeking a fourth consecutive championship and fourth title overall. In Class 4A competition of note, Sarasota County has dominated the competition in recent years between the Sailors of Sarasota on the boys side, and the Rams of Riverview (Sarasota) on the girls. Both are reigning champions in their respective genders and return a strong contingent of qualifiers to this year’s event. The Sailors will be seeking their fifth straight title and seventh overall championship. The Rams will be seeking their fourth straight title and eleventh overall this year, which becomes even more of an impressive feat considering each of their championships have come since just 2006.

The championship event is setup so each classification will compete on their own day in a multi-session format. The morning session will consist of the preliminary qualifying events, with the Finals tentatively scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm each evening. Tickets are currently on sale and being sold per session through GoFan for an advanced purchase rate of $13.00, and a day of price of $16.00. An all-day pass is also available with parking already included in each ticket of admission. For the complete event schedule, results, and facility information, please see the information below or visit the swimming & diving sport page.
