GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the fifth consecutive year, the Florida High School Water Polo State Championships will take place at the Gian Zumpano Aquatic Center, located on the campus of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami. Conducted within a final four style format, this two-day championship event will consist of both semifinal and championship title games in both genders. To qualify for their respective state championship games on Saturday, teams will compete in a semifinal matchup on Friday.

Of note heading into the weekend, on the boys side, we will crown a new state champion in 2025 after last year’s champion Gulliver Prep (Pinecrest) did not qualify for the state event. The Raiders of St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) will be seeking its third state championship overall in the sport and is the only remaining school with a boys’ title in their history – while each remaining team, Seminole (Sanford), Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale) and Mater Lakes (Hialeah) each vie for their school’s first boys’ water polo title. On the girl's side, we have a carbon copy of the state championship event from 2024. All final four remaining teams competed in last year’s event, creating two rematches for this year’s semifinal round.  Seminole (Sanford) broke through in 2024 to claim their school’s first ever water polo championship and will be seeking a repeat performance in Miami again this year. Standing in their way are Miami Country Day and West Orange (Winter Garden) who ultimately fell to the Seminoles in last year’s title match, as well as perennial power Gulliver Prep (Pinecrest) who is seeking their sixth overall championship, but first title since 2013.
