GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the sixth consecutive year, the Florida High School Water Polo State Championships will take place at the
Gian Zumpano Aquatic Center, located on the campus of
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami. Conducted within a final four style format, this two-day championship event will consist of both semifinal and championship title games in both genders. To qualify for their respective state championship games on Saturday, teams will compete in a semifinal matchup on Friday.
Of note heading into the weekend, both St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) and Seminole (Sanford) will send both genders to the championship event. Also, specifically on the girl's side, Gulliver Prep (Pinecrest) is returning to defend their 2025 title and will hope to claim their school’s seventh overall state championship. Seminole, who broke through back in 2024 to claim their school’s first ever water polo championship, could set up a rematch of the last year’s title match with a victory in their own semifinal matchup should Gulliver Prep win as well. Standing in both their ways will be the Raiders of St. Thomas Aquinas and West Orange (Winter Garden), who are each seeking their school’s first ever state championship. On the boys side, Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale) returns to Miami to defend their school’s first ever water polo state championship. Standing in their way are the powerhouse Raiders, as well as Ransom Everglades (Miami), who have each claimed two previous titles in their school’s history. The only school seeking their first ever title will be Seminole.
