2023 Golf State Championships: Know Before You Go

To be held at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Lake County Nov. 7-15

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2023 Florida High School Golf State Championships will take place over the next nine days at Mission Resort + Club, located in Howey-in-the-Hills. The event will run Tuesday, November 7th through Wednesday, November 15th. Once again partnering with the Greater Orlando Sports Commission and Visit Lake, this year's event will mark the thirteenth consecutive year of being in Lake County, and the ninth consecutive year of the championships being conducted exclusively at Mission Inn.

The El Campeon course, known for its significant elevation changes, will conduct the boys’ championships, while the equally difficult and serene Los Colinas course will be home to the girls. Both courses will play at a par-72. The tournament for each classification will be conducted over a two-day span and within a 36-hole stroke play format.

In girls’ competition, a group of highly decorated teams will be returning to the championship event, with all three 2022 class champions back to defend their titles. Each will do so as a high seed in their respective classification. Leading the field in Class 2A will be defending champion American Heritage (Plantation), seeking their fourth straight title, with a chance to add to their state leading eleven team titles overall. Lake Mary, Class 3A, is second overall in the state with nine team titles and will be seeking their third straight championship this year, while First Academy (Orlando), Class 1A, will seek to claim their fifth overall title by going back to back for the first time since 2017-18.

On the boys’ side, all three defending champions will make a return to Howey-in-the-Hills. In Class 2A, perennial contender Ponte Vedra once again leads a stacked field of competitors. The Sharks are seeking their seventh consecutive and ninth overall team championship as they attempt to remain the most decorated boys’ program in the state of Florida. In Class 3A, Jupiter returns to defend their title and will do so as the top overall seed within their classification. For Class 1A, FAU (Boca Raton) also returns to the championship event, seeking their second overall title in school history.

Admittance to the Event is free for spectators. For a complete schedule, live scoring information, and state series tournament results, please see the information below or visit the golf sport page.
