2024 Golf State Championships: Know Before You Go

To be held at Mission Inn Resort + Club in Lake County Nov. 12-20

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2024 Florida High School Golf State Championships will take place over nine days at Mission Resort + Club, located in Howey-in-the-Hills. The event will run Tuesday, November 12th through Wednesday, November 20th. Once again partnering with the Greater Orlando Sports Commission and Visit Lake, this year's event will mark the fourteenth consecutive year of being in Lake County, and a decade with the event being exclusively at Mission Inn.

The El Campeon course, known for its significant elevation changes, will conduct the boys’ championships, while the equally difficult and serene Los Colinas course will be home to the girls. Both courses will play at a par-72. The tournament for each classification will be conducted over a two-day span and within a 36-hole stroke play format. Both teams and individual athletes have qualified over the last few weeks after advancing through both the District & Regional tournament events.

In girls’ competition of note, the perennial power Lake Mary Rams will be returning in Class 3A, with their sights on an eleventh overall (fourth straight) team championship after securing their tenth title last year. Winning again this year would tie them with American Heritage (Plantation) for the most ever in the history of the sport. However, the Rams head into competition as the third overall seed of Class 3A, where they sit just in front of last year’s Class 2A champion Beachside (St. Johns), who moved up into Class 3A this year due to classification realignment. The Barracudas of Beachside’s move to Class 3A means we will not have a defending champion in 2A. However, those American Heritage Patriots will seek to secure their twelfth title in school history if they are able to claim the 2A title, where the Patriots come in as the third overall seed. In Class 1A competition, FAU (Boca Raton) will look for a repeat performance in their return to Mission Inn Resort + Club, as they seek to defend their first ever team title in girls golf.

On the boys’ side, all three defending champions will make a return to Howey-in-the-Hills. However, due to aforementioned classification realignment, both the Class 2A & 3A champions from 2023 have flipped classifications in 2024 - meaning Fleming Island is now competing in Class 2A, while Ponte Vedra tees it up in Class 3A. Leading into their respective events, each is seeded within the top two, and are primed to make a run at another state championship. If they do so, the Sharks of Ponte Vedra would claim their eighth consecutive and state leading tenth overall team title. The Golden Eagles of Fleming Island are seeking their second title in school history. In Class 1A, Benjamin (Palm Beach Gardens) returns as the top seed of their class and will seek their fifth title in school history.

Admittance to the Event is free for spectators, but there is a $10 fee for parking, cash only. Proceeds from parking directly support covering the course greens fees for the tournament days.
