GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2023 Florida High School Swimming & Diving State Championships will conlcude this weekend with classifications 3A & 4A. For the first time in the event’s history, Ocala’s
Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center (FAST) will serve as the host location, with the event being made possible thanks to the ongoing partnership of the
Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau (OMCVB). Class 4A will compete on Friday, November 10th, and Class 3A will compete on Saturday, November 3rd.
Individuals and relay teams all became eligible to compete in their respective events at the State Championships after qualifying and advancing through both the District and Regional levels that have taken place over the last two weeks. In Class 4A competition of note, its been about Sarasota County in recent memory. The Sailors of Sarasota boys are the reigning state champions after claiming their third straight and fifth overall team title back at the 2022 event. On the girls side, nine time state champion and owners of two straight, Riverview (Sarasota) Rams will look to bring another title back to a dominant swimming community. Also recently, Class 3A competition has been dominated by St. John's County. Nease (Ponte Vedra) and Ponte Vedra both return to this year's event with another stong coningent of athletes for each of their teams as well. The Sharks of Ponte Vedra on the girls side are seeking their third straight title and third overall, while the Panthers of Nease on the boys side are seeking their second straight and second title overall.
The championship event is setup so each classification will compete on their own day in a multi-session format. The morning session will consist of the preliminary qualifying events, with the Finals tentatively scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm each evening. Tickets are currently on sale and being sold per session through
