South Florida Football Teams Battle in Ranked Matchups as FHSAA Postseason Nears

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – As the FHSAA postseason approaches, every game is starting to feel like playoff football.
 
On Friday night in Broward County, two games between ranked opponents highlighted the intensity of our student-athletes across the state.
 
Defending 1A state champion Chamanade-Madonna dominated Cardinal Gibbons, winning 47-0 for the Lions seventh victory in a row. Chaminade senior, and 4-star Texas commit, Derrek Cooper rushed for 150 yards on eight caries while scoring three touchdowns. Freshman quarterback Malik Leonard threw for three scores in the win.
 
Meanwhile in Plantation, St. Thomas Aquinas extended its win-streak to eight, beating American Heritage 19-12.
 
The Raiders nailed  four field goals and scored on defense with a fumble recovery touchdown.
