GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA)
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member,
Nicholas Santana brought home gold in two events at the Special Olympics State Swim Meet.
Santana placed 1
st in the 200 Medley Relay, where he swam the backstroke portion, and in the 50-Meter Freestyle, which also included a personal best time.
Representing Orange Park High School, Clay Virtual Academy, Clay County, and the FHSAA, Santana displayed sportsmanship and dedication throughout the competition.
As a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Santana continues to serve as a leader and role model for student-athletes statewide.
“I learned leadership from my captains throughout the years and I used that to reinforce what I could do and when I got sent up to Indianapolis [NFHS National Student Leadership Summit] that helped me a lot more,” said Santana.
The FHSAA congratulates Nicholas on his outstanding achievement and celebrates the example he sets for all student-athletes through his determination, positive attitude, and passion for competition.
